Child Safety Leash Tips

There is much controversy about the use of leashes or harnesses to control the roaming ability of a child.  For an older child who can follow directions and knows to stay with the parent they may be humiliating. But for a toddler who does not understand boundaries or have a perception of danger they can literally be a lifesaver.

The Truth About Child Safety Leashes!

Leashes do not hinder the child’s freedom; rather they set firm boundaries so children can learn that it is not safe to run off or travel far away from a parent.  With the modern leashes used today, there are many cute and colorful options that can make the toddler feel as though they are playing a game.

The child still has plenty of room to run around, yet the parent still can ensure that their child does not run off or hide.  Each year thousands of children turn up missing.  In crowded venues like the zoo, park or mall a small child can disappear in an instant.  This is where the usefulness of a child restraint or leash comes in.

Your Toddler May Like a Leash more than Their Stroller

Child Safety Leashes are very comfortable for a child to wear and do not include any material that is binding to a child. They are simply a length of space that a child can have freedom without compromising safety.  Many toddlers actually prefer this to riding stuck in the confines of a stroller.  You may find that giving your toddler the ability to exert energy and walk around will make your outing more enjoyable.

Whether you decide to use a harness or not you do need to remain aware of situations where your child could be abducted or inadvertently lost in a crowd.  Either situation is heartbreaking for a parent and the intention of a leash is only to safeguard against these kinds of incidences.
